Jasmine Veronique is an emerging fine artist based on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Drawing inspiration from the nuanced beauty and imperfections of floral subjects, she sees flowers as symbols of raw, unfiltered elegance - mirroring the varied facets of her human experience. In her artwork, Jasmine captures this authenticity through a unique technique of removing colour to expose the raw underpainting beneath, thereby harmonizing elegance and imperfection in a visual symphony.
Jasmine has garnered notable recognition as a finalist in the Caloundra Regional Gallery Local Contemporary Art Prize 2024, finalist and the People’s Choice Award Winner in the 40 Under 40 Exhibition and Art Prize 2024, High Commended Award Winner in the Seeing The Soul Art Prize, and a two-time finalist in the Lethbridge Gallery 20000 Small Scale Art Awards. Her work has been featured in Art Edit Magazine’s Summer Edition 2023 and a two-page feature in the Autumn Edition 2024. Adding to her accolades, Jasmine’s artwork graces the cover of the Autumn 2024 issue of her local lifestyle magazine, Hello Sunshine, which also includes a two-page feature on her and her work.
Marking a significant milestone in her career, this year Jasmine has participated for the first time in the Affordable Art Fair in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne represented by Stevens Street Gallery. She has also actively participated in various group exhibitions throughout the years. Additionally, Jasmine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation from the Queensland College of Art, graduating in 2007.
Art has always been a part of my life since childhood. I spent much of my time seeking wonder and discovering beauty within nature. My creative process is deeply influenced by the nuanced imperfections within botanical and figurative subjects. Much like the varied experiences of growing up and how I have come to see the world, botanicals and human figures embody a raw, unfiltered beauty. I seek to capture this authenticity, creating a visual symphony that harmonizes elegance and imperfection.
Although I am skilled in various mediums, I predominantly love working in oils. Each brushstroke on the canvas reflects not only the form and structure of the subject but also the emotional landscape they evoke. I capture this authenticity through a unique technique of removing color layers to expose the raw underpainting beneath and play with lost edges like a dance around the canvas.
Celebrating the beauty, wonder and imperfection found in nature, with a strong focus on florals and the human figure.
