Creating beauty to elevate the heart and soothe the soul
Creating beauty to elevate the heart and soothe the soul
After exhibiting a great interest in drawing from a young age, Helen has devoted her life to its pursuit. Developing an early sense of creativity, she began drawing pencil portraits from 8 yrs old whilst watching her artist father paint oil portraits in his studio at home. Her father went to Liverpool College of Art school in 1957 with John Lennon and her mother was an Interior Designer - art is in her blood, heart & soul.
Helen trained in technical drawing at Interior design school in 2001-2 training in technical drawing for two yrs. She has an deep knowledge of the science of colour theory. Helen was a freelance tutor and lecturer at the KLC Design School in London, leading design board projects and teaching interior design subjects such as Colour theory.
Rather than entering a traditional art program upon graduating high school, Helen began seeking out today's leading oil painting representational artists and apprenticing under them personally through workshops such as Jeremy Lipking, Daniel Keys, Michael Klein, Casey Baugh and Alex Venezia.
My name is Helen Rosa Whitaker. I am an artist based in the South of England.
I work with oil paint and gold leaf. I paint subjects that excite my soul - roses, gilded cherry blossom trees and landscapes. I love painting portraits to capture unique essence beyond just a likeness, they are beautiful soul portraits.
I am really passionate about painting en plein air, which allows me to be immersed in the atmospheric landscape.
My floral work explores ideas about beauty and the ephemeral quality of roses, blossoms and just how powerful art is on a psychological level to uplift the heart.
Beautiful art has the power to help us to open our heart and be moved deeply through our senses when we look at beautiful paintings of roses and nature, to actually feel our own inner beauty..and elevated feelings of joy, abundance, hope, love, freedom and serenity.
As well as creating paintings for upcoming exhibitions, Helen works with private clients and Interior Designers on bespoke commissions such as gilded cherry blossom panels scaled to any size project. With her background as an Interior Designer, Helen understands in depth the Interior design principles of light, form and scale, to help you to optimise the design impact for your bespoke commissioned piece of art to work with the unique light, aspect and architecture of your home.
Painting the extraordinary beauty of nature that captivates my soul. Harnessing the power of art to help people feel their inner light and beauty within - sublime florals, landscapes and portraiture.
