Lost in a world of color, imperfections bloom as beautiful as wildflowers
Lost in a world of color, imperfections bloom as beautiful as wildflowers
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Jenna Deibel's artistic journey began after she earned a degree in Interior Design from Northern Arizona University. Upon relocating to State College, Pennsylvania, Jenna embraced motherhood and pivoted her focus to self-taught exploration of various art mediums. Inspired by her son's uninhibited finger paintings, she began collaborating with him to create vibrant underpaintings, sparking her passion for mixed media work.
A multi-passionate woman and mother, Jenna's art intertwines her love for learning and her children's creativity. With each move, her artistic practice evolved. After settling in Fort Moore, Columbus, Georgia, and expanding her family from three to five, Jenna delved deeper into the themes of female identity, exploring the societal limits placed on women and the boundless emotional strength they possess.
In 2023, Jenna established her home-based business, Jenna Deibel Studios, gaining recognition in her community for her mural work, custom business signage, and her 2024 exhibition at the Bo Bartlett Center's Beyond Go Figure V. Her talents also earned her a feature on the Colour Me Happy podcast, hosted by internationally recognized artist Brandi Hofer.
As a military wife, Jenna plans to leave her mark in each city she lives in, creating murals influenced by the cultures and women of her new communities. Her work continues to explore the depths of female identity, representing the essence of being a WOMXN.
Art has always been a sanctuary for me—a place of healing, reflection, and connection. Yet, for many years, it was something I often set aside for the demands of daily life. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I felt an overwhelming sense of isolation and grief for the loss of my former self. This profound emotional shift led me to rediscover a consistent sketchbook practice, where I found inspiration in the complexities of motherhood and the broader experiences of being a woman.
As I navigated this new chapter of my life, my sketchbook rapidly bloomed into aspirations of becoming a professional artist. I transformed a room in our home into a studio, a space where I could freely express myself. Early on, I began laying canvas on the floor, painting alongside my son to create underpaintings—an intuitive practice that has since become a cherished tradition involving all three of my children. Their uninhibited marks now act as a guide, often surfacing in various layers of my work, grounding each piece in the authenticity of their spontaneous creativity.
My art is deeply intertwined with my passion for motherhood and the strength of women. I am driven to reflect the fierce resilience and boundless power of the female spirit, challenging societal limitations through my work. The layers and mediums I employ, often paired with collage, serve as a metaphor for the breaking and healing inherent in each woman’s existence. My goal is to bring power to our emotions and celebrate female identity in all its greatness.
Each painting begins with an unorthodox process, where I allow myself to be lost in the creation of colors and shapes until they speak to me. This intuitive approach allows me to connect with the canvas on a deeply personal level. It is only after I have begun painting that the figure or figures reveal themselves to me, guided by intuition and supported by my artistic skill and knowledge.
This process not only fuels my growth as an artist but also parallels my journey as a mother and a woman. My work is a testament to the fluidity between my role as a mother and my identity as an artist, reflecting the evolving narratives of my life and the lives of women everywhere.
My art is a celebration of womanhood and motherhood, where strength and vulnerability coexist in their most beautiful forms. I am inspired by the multifaceted experiences of women—their resilience, tenderness, imperfections, and the quiet power they embody in every aspect of life. Through my work, I seek to capture the raw emotions and complex beauty that define these roles, challenging the conventional perceptions of strength.
I find beauty in the details that tell a story: a wrinkle, a scar, a gaze filled with both hope and fatigue. To me, these "imperfections" are not flaws but marks of life lived fully, moments of struggle and triumph that make us uniquely human. I strive to reveal the grace found in these complexities, where strength is not just in the grand gestures but in the soft, quiet moments of everyday existence.
Using a blend of bold contrasts and delicate nuances, I aim to create pieces that reflect the inner worlds of women—their endurance, love, pain, joy, and the unspoken courage that resides in both their softness and their strength. My art is an homage to the women who live in the space between these dualities, finding beauty and meaning in their journey.
