Details
My name is Lauren Walker. I live in Port Perry Ontario and I am a professional artist. I have dabbled with various mediums and decided upon acrylic. My professional career started three and a half years ago during a very difficult time in my life. Art is my saving grace and my true calling.
Why do we pursue art? It encapsulates our deepest thoughts and feelings. Not only that, opens us to criticism and judgment. I have learned art is not about anyone else but the artist. I paint for myself and would do so even if I never sold a thing. It doesn't make any difference to me what people think! Art is not a hobby, it is my purpose.
My current theme is "Interesting buildings in Ontario" which I'm doing in monochrome. I love old black and white photos!
My very first solo show was in November of 2022 at the Port Perry Townhall 1873 Theatre. My second show was at the Kent Farndale Gallery in Port Perry.
I've won multiple awards with Camelback Gallery and have been featured in Art and Color 365 Magazine. I won my first place Award in April 2024 at the 56th Annual Oshawa Artist Association Juried Show at the McLaughlin Gallery.
