Australian Painter capturing spirit at play!
Australian Painter capturing spirit at play!
A little extra from were it all started...
Rachel grew up in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. She has painted all her life. At 9 years of age she developed a love for oil painting during art classes. Growing up Rachel gathered an understanding of tools and machinery used within her families business, giving her an ever expanding creative platform to work with. Building her own canvases, to sewing costumes and sculpting her creative visions. Starting commissions during high school for businesses, homes, family and friends. Over the years she has assisted everyday people with their ideas to explore and create art. She works with their creative desires to enhance a specific space and build a better appreciation for art. Rachel went on to complete her Fine Arts degree at Griffith University, Queensland College of Art were she majored in both painting and printmaking. Her works were consistently colourful and bold exploring the use of texture, fabrics and built environment. Over the years Rachel worked for a fine paper and printing company while continuing to paint and start a family. Following on with her studies into Art Therapy, hoping to further assist all ages through the artistic process. Settled on the outskirts of Moreton Bay, Brisbane, her works are inspiring a deeper subconscious connection with nature and spirit. Heavily inspired by the diverse surroundings of the Glass House Mountains and Sunshine Coast beaches. Rachel hopes that her paintings evoke a feeling or emotion within allowing us to look closer at the relationships we have with ourselves and the environment. Whilst bringing colour and warmth to our lives.
"I have an unspoken, ingrained sense to make. My understanding of life’s journey develops through working with the visual. Their meanings become more purposeful through the creation process. I see an object or an intention and the paint brush leads the way. With each brush stroke it sculpts the colour into form and comes to life. Understanding my compositions after the fact then is the story told. I find most powerful connections come to life when exploring the human spirit and offerings of our country."
Inspired by my surroundings and how we fit into and connect with our world. How our mental health is contributed to by nature. Visits by the surrounding cockatoos, and bird life which then are incorporated into me works. Form and line developed through drawings then developed into print processes onto the canvas. I love to create narratives than are unseen or not the norm, subjects that generally not possible together create stories for the imagination.
