Creating art is a meditation of being.
Creating art is a meditation of being.
Kate’s artistic inclinations began with formal art classes in drawing, sculpture and print-making, at Pennsylvania State University when she was an undergraduate student. One of her sculptures was selected for the Undergraduate art exhibit in 1970-71. Yet, it wasn't until she volunteered as a docent in-training, at an art museum with her husband, after they retired to Florida, that her passion for art was reignited. She complemented this experience with taking art classes on-line and at local venues, honing her skills and refining her unique style.
She has won awards and has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally.

Kate’s artistic practice draws inspiration from automatic surrealism, abstract expressionism and other Modernist art styles. Her process uses materials that range from clay to ink on rice paper and acrylic paint on canvas. Incorporating aspects of digital art, her work is a vivid exploration of form and color, infused with a dynamism that speaks to her varied life experiences. She has been influenced by the artists from the European and American Modern Art movements due to their bold departure from classical art, their use of abstraction and their multi-material approach.
She paints vigorously as an action painter and follows a rich American tradition of Abstract Expressionism and the French movement of Automatic Surrealism. She believes that when the materials are being directed by her unconscious mind, that she is at the hands of the artist spirit. Creating art is a meditation of being.
