Think about the last time you saw a bird. Maybe it was a sparrow hopping across your windowsill, a pigeon cooing in the city square, or a lone crane gliding across a morning sky. Small, ordinary, yet somehow unforgettable. Birds show up in our memories, in stories, in the quiet moments we often overlook, and they carry more than just wings. They carry meaning, emotion, and imagination.
When we first chose this theme, we had no idea how beautifully diverse the responses would be. We are genuinely humbled and honestly amazed by how artists everywhere are bringing it to life. Each submission tells its own story: a brushstroke carrying memory, a photograph capturing stillness, a sculpture balancing fragility and strength. Artists are making this theme their own, weaving personal experiences into symbols that speak to all of us. From voices rooted in tradition to fresh, bold perspectives, each piece adds to a chorus that feels endless.
This is the magic of art: it doesn’t just show us wings it shows us what wings mean. And now, we want to see your wings, your story, your vision. Let your creativity take flight and add your voice to this extraordinary collection.
Birds have a way of finding their way into our hearts. They’re companions, messengers, symbols of change, and reminders that the world is bigger than we sometimes see. They can be quiet and intimate a robin outside your window or grand and awe-inspiring a flock stretching across the horizon.
For some of us, birds are tied to childhood memories: the soft chirping of sparrows at dawn, the rush of pigeons taking flight. For others, they hold cultural stories: cranes in folk tales, eagles in rituals, doves in prayers. And for so many, they are about journeys departures, migrations, returns a mirror of our own hopes and longings.
So here’s the question we’re asking every artist: What do birds mean to you? Freedom? Fragility? Companions? Guides? Or maybe just something beautiful that makes you pause for a moment.
Every submission we’ve received so far has been a little story in itself. Paintings that let wings dissolve into clouds, photographs that capture a bird mid-flight, sculptures balancing strength and delicacy, and digital works transforming birds into metaphors of hope, love, or loss.
Some pieces draw you close a bird perched quietly, a song breaking the silence. Others sweep you away into vast migrations, wings spanning continents, birds imagined as bridges between worlds. And each piece adds to something bigger: a living, breathing collection of stories, memories, and emotions.
Artists have already begun to share what birds mean to them:
Every piece is like a feather in a wing. Together, they carry stories, memories, and hope. And the wing keeps growing with each submission.
Please note: These are submissions only and do not represent the final selection. The jury will determine the selected artworks after the submission deadline has closed.
There’s still time to make your voice heard. Submissions close October 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST.
