Final 3 Days Left to Submit Your Bird Themed Artwork

Artists! the countdown has begun, and the skies are calling. The Women in Arts Network’s global open call, “Birds,” is entering its final days, and the deadline is approaching fast October 9, 2025. If you’ve been thinking about submitting but haven’t yet, maybe this is your sign. Take a deep breath, look around, and ask yourself what do birds mean to you?

We often see them gliding effortlessly through the air, defying gravity, moving freely from place to place. But behind that freedom lies fragility feathers so light they could be crushed by the wind, yet strong enough to carry them across continents. Isn’t that a lot of like us, as artists and humans? Always moving between strength and vulnerability, between what we show and what we hold inside?

This exhibition is an invitation to explore those layers to let birds take shape in your art, your story, your own way of seeing the world. You can interpret the theme however you wish maybe your work captures the rush of wings cutting through the air, a single bird perched in stillness, or the patterns of migration that mirror your own inner journey. Or maybe, birds in your work are not just creatures they’re symbols, messengers, or metaphors for hope, longing, or transformation. Whatever they are to you, this is your chance to share it.

Why Birds Continue to Inspire Art

They may look small, beautiful, and fragile but birds carry worlds within them. In every wingbeat, there’s a story of freedom, in every flight, a whisper of hope. For centuries, artists have looked to birds not just as subjects of beauty, but as symbols of the human spirit ever-changing, ever reaching, and endlessly expressive. Across cultures and generations, birds have been seen as messengers, symbols of peace, carriers of souls, and omens of change. Yet their true magic lies in how their meaning never stays fixed. A bird can embody both a beginning and an ending, a moment of silence or a song that fills the sky.

So, ask yourself! what story would your bird tell? Maybe it’s one of resilience, the quiet strength to keep flying even when the sky feels heavy. Maybe it’s about migration leaving behind what no longer fits to find something that does. Or perhaps it’s simply about beauty the fleeting kind that reminds you how alive you are.

Whatever your interpretation, “Birds” invites you to let your vision take flight to express what these timeless creatures mean to you through your art, your heart, and your story.

About the Exhibition

The Women in Arts Network created this exhibition as a space where women-identifying and non-binary artists from around the world could come together to celebrate creativity, connection, and the universal language of art. “Birds” is a virtual international exhibition which means your work won’t just hang on a wall; it will take flight online, reaching curators, collectors, and audiences across the globe.

Every selected piece will be part of a beautifully curated digital gallery, designed to let each artwork breathe and speak for itself. This isn’t just another open call; it’s a conversation between you, your art, and the people who will see it and feel something. And maybe, just maybe, your work will remind someone of something they had forgotten the feeling of freedom, or the memory of flight.

Who Can Submit

This open call welcomes all women-identifying and non-binary artists, no matter where you are in your journey whether you’ve been creating for years or just recently started. Art has no age, no borders, no labels. What matters most is your voice and how you use it.

All visual art forms are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture (submitted as photos), digital art, collage, textile and fiber works, printmaking, installation, and mixed media. Whether your art is realistic, abstract, emotional, or minimalist, it’s your perspective that counts.

So, what are you waiting for? Maybe this is the piece that’s been sitting unfinished in your studio. Maybe it’s something new that’s been forming quietly in your mind. Whatever it is, it deserves to be seen.

Why You Should Submit

Have you ever felt that rush when someone truly sees your work not just with their eyes, but with their heart? That’s what this exhibition is about. It’s about creating that moment of connection between you and the world.
