Exposed to art at an early age by her grandmother, a talented artist and seamstress, she found it an intuitive tool to help express herself when words were elusive. Though she didn’t have a name for it then, associative synesthesia was a guiding force behind her work; music was used to “tune in” as a kind of radio frequency to feeling, turning emotional wavelengths into visual translations on canvas. In academia she continued to study the arts formally alongside her more “practical” studies, but her focus on the latter ultimately created a rift with her creative spirit. After losing touch with both her art and with her sense of self for well over a decade, she recalled the spark that came with being deeply intuitive and made the choice to dive back in headfirst.

With exploration Jessica has refined her technique, developing a mixed media process that begins with charcoal realism and subsequently blooms with expressive and abstract layering of acrylics, oils, and paper, reflecting the vibrancy of the soul within the vessel that is the body.  Her work explores the unseen yet deeply felt: the dualities of life, the quiet tension between highs and lows, and the depths of our inner worlds. What emerges is a visual language that is fluid, raw, and resonant. What began to balance the chaos of life and reconnect with herself has become both a calling to others to look inward and an invitation to connect over the shared human experience.
