beautiful stories from paper and pixels⁣ custom collage creation and inspiration

Details

An artist and designer from the UK, Jenny originally trained and worked for over fifteen years as an illustrator and graphic designer, with an extensive list of global clients. However, more recently, she was encouraged by her enduring obsession with visual culture to start integrating collage into her portfolio – one of the most fun, rewarding developments of her creative career so far. Jenny now creates handcrafted and digital collage illustrations for books, zines, jewellery, surface pattern designs, and other custom fine art pieces and commissions, all from her home studio in Amsterdam.

My love for collage comes from many things. Firstly, an attraction to curation: the process of bringing together vibrant, colourful, disparate elements to make a coherent whole. It gives me great joy to gather together fragments from daily life, combine them with long-forgotten art books and other treasured supplies, and breathe new life into pieces made from materials that might normally go unnoticed or be discarded. I am often reminded of our ephemeral existence, and my ongoing practice often serves to awaken memories, moments lost in time; bringing together images from the past helps me look towards the future. Vintage and modern ephemera combine to create maximalist, escapist worlds, where new stories and fresh feelings emerge to be explored, and each piece has a spirit of its own. Most of all, I aspire to bring softness, playfulness and magic into my art – a sense of wonder.

Within the last year, Jenny's work has been featured in Photo Trouvée Magazine, Suboart Magazine, Contemporary Collage Magazine, Wilder ‘Roam’, and on the cover of ‘Cut Loose’ issue 2, amongst others; as well as being featured in Create! Magazine's article, ‘Discover 20 Contemporary Collage Artists You Need to Follow Now’. She has appeared in interviews by Wilder Collage, Toombes.com, and Twin Cities Collage Collective, and on an episode for the Flying Fruit Bowl podcast.
