Raised in California, painter Bailey Miller has always had nature right at her back door. Her exploration began with road trips along Highway 1, backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and eventually progressed into adventures that crossed state lines. Nature has continually had her heart. She was born with a soul for adventure, eager to see the sublime, untouched beauty of God's creation. She currently resides in the Inland Northwest where she sources her inspiration from her time spent in the abundant natural beauty that surrounds her.
Bailey has always been an artist but did not pick up painting until her freshman year of college. She had the opportunity to explore much of California which sparked her love for painting her adventures. Over a decade later the adventures never cease to provide ample inspiration as she continues to climb more mountains, take more road trips and never stop exploring.
Bailey began her professional career as a fine artist while living in Grover Beach, California where she participated in a variety of local opportunities and displayed her work in a gallery in Morro Bay. She later relocated to southern California to explore all the opportunities available to artists, specifically in Laguna Beach. While living in Orange County, she displayed her work in gallery exhibitions, obtained a residency within the Artist Eye Gallery in Laguna Beach, as well as participated in the internationally juried Laguna Art-A-Fair for many years. Upon relocating to the Northwest in 2022, she has since participated in fine art shows throughout the region as well as numerous gallery exhibitions. She continues to display her work at the Artist Eye Gallery in Laguna Beach, the Mono Arts Council Gallery in Mammoth Lakes and participates in fine art shows and gallery exhibitions annually in the Northwest and California.
For painter Bailey Miller, it all begins with an adventure. Her creative journey is set in motion as soon as her feet hit the trail. Whether it’s traveling to remote alpine lakes, traversing mountain peaks, snowshoeing through a secluded winter wonderland, or beach combing along the coast, there is no limit to where she will venture to find inspiration. She creates small plein air paintings to quickly capture scenes and colors along the way before returning to her studio to begin larger work.
Bailey would not simply call herself a landscape painter. Each painting encompasses an experience.; they carry the ups and downs of the journey, the joys of creating, and with every new viewer, a fellow adventurer adds a story of their own memories to the painting. Bailey is an adventure painter. She capture nature’s essence, but more importantly, she creates a painting that takes the viewer back in time to one of their adventures, or hers, inciting both feelings of nostalgia and joy. Bailey is a painter for adventurous souls who make wayfaring a way a life and celebrate remarkable moments in remarkable places.
Nature’s beauty is a constant theme of Bailey’s work; however, it’s the adventure that offers the inspiration. Sometimes adventures are wild and adrenaline invoking, while others are about finding peace and inspiration in God’s beauty. Regardless of the type of adventure, she relishes in the journey and challenges and immerses herself in nature giving the space to feel all the rewards it has to offer. Climbing mountains may be at the source of her inspiration, but she hopes her work is constantly a reminder of all the tidings that nature provides. Nature is both a place to find peace and clarity from everyday life as well as a playground for adventure. Bailey is a painter for adventurous souls who make wayfaring a way of life and celebrate remarkable moments in remarkable places.
