I'm Amina Jimoh, but I create under the name FAJ Abstraction. This pseudonym is a tribute to my late mother, Fredba Jimoh, incorporating my first name to form FAJ (Fredba Amina Jimoh).
Growing up, I was fascinated by portrait and realism artists, though I struggled to draw faces myself. Instead, I found solace in creating abstract doodles on any available surface. Two years ago, I transitioned to canvas, starting with yarn and eventually experimenting with diverse mediums.
Embracing my unique perspective, I transformed my inability to draw representational art into a strength. My abstract world is now open for others to experience. I incorporate unconventional materials like beads, pearls, yarn, hot glue, and modeling paste into my work, often combining them with acrylic paint. By repurposing everyday objects, I aim to inspire others to see the beauty in the mundane and the abstract.
