Details
Inspired by natural structures, unseen forces, subconscious imagery, and bodily sensations, Jacobs's paintings blur the line between comforting familiarity and the unsettling unknown. My process balances spontaneity and control, reflecting the tension between the fear of uncharted territory and the thrill of exploring it. Her practice is driven by a deep curiosity about individual human existence and our connection to the Earth.
My artwork has more of a tangible narrative that I impose onto it while painting, many of the themes I explore are how our human body sensationalizes the world around it and within it. Texture and congestion is a major exploration within my paintings, the interaction of both translates into different energy levels used to represent stress. The strings symbolise greater human meanings and are metaphorical through the way they interact by bonding, connecting, bunching, contorting, snagging, tangling, screwing, breaking up and reattaching again.
