Visual Music
Linda Ganus exhibits regularly across the United States and is a member of Pictor Gallery in New York City. She holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, an MA in History from Lehigh University, and a B. Mus in Flute Performance from the University of Michigan. Engaged with our relationship to Nature as well as the nature of our relationships, Linda delights in performing a kind of alchemy, transmuting deep emotions of music and memories into her evocative and mysterious dreamscape paintings and drawings from the imagination.
Skyscapes: their beauty, wonder, and immensity are accessible to everyone, moving us profoundly and deeply like visual symphonies. Looking up at cloudscapes remains one of the world's few democratic pleasures. Working from memory, dreams, and my imagination, I paint in oils to capture the music of the sky over land and sea, always searching for a compelling image; capturing forms in space; and using color as metaphors for my memories and emotional responses in the way that a composer might choose a key signature or a minor mode. I passionately believe our relationship to Nature is related to the nature of our own relationships, and that the ghost of a melody can manifest in shadows and light.
