"The raw and unfinished, through the eyes of M Granick"

Details

    M. Granick is a figurative expressionist artist whose emotionally charged portraits explore vulnerability, identity, and the interior lives we often keep hidden.  Through gestural brushwork, expressive distortion, and intentional incompletion, she captures the raw beauty of being human - unresolved, in progress, and deeply felt.

Through her practice, M. Granick challenges conventional expectations of beauty and resolution, instead embracing imperfection as a mirror of lived experience.  Her figures often exist in emotional suspension, inviting the viewer to witness moments of fracture, silence, and quiet strength.

Her work reflects a commitment to empathy, not only in subject matter but in action.  M. Granick has donated her artwork to charitable causes, including Warm Hearts of Africa, where her work was auctioned in support of children's education and care.  This spirit of compassion and social awareness informs bother her art and her values.

Originally from the United States and currently based in Thailand, M. Granick's work has been exhibited internationally and featured in Artist Close Up magazine.  In 2025, she was named one of 100 Emerging International Artists by the Arts of Hearts Project. Her paintings offer viewers a space to pause, reflect, and connect - with themselves and with the emotional truths that are often unspoken.

I paint what is felt but often unsaid - emotions that resist language, moments suspended between presence and retreat.  My figures are incomplete by design, reflecting the way identity is constantly negotiated, shaped, and fractured through experience.

Bridging sociological insight with lived experience, I approach painting as a form of inquiry: What do we reveal? What do we protect? What remains unsaid?  These questions shape every canvas. Each mark becomes a gesture of truth - emotional, unfinished, and unapologetically human.

Grounded in figurative expressionism, my work explores how identity is shaped, performed, and perceived.  Through raw, gestural portraiture, I examine the quiet tensions between visibility and vulnerability, inspired by presentation of self and the inner worlds we rarely show.
