Sculptural painting un-trapped by the canvas the wild thing within rises to be free.

Details

    • I have been working as an artist in Australia for the past 30 years since I graduated  from Wollongong University  with a double major in Ceramics and Painting. I have for the past 30 years been trying to mix both artforms and create a style which is my own. My style dramatically changed 3 years ago when I reconnected with my true artist sole and started rebuilding my portfolio which had been destroyed. I have always known I have aboriginal heritage but I have not shown a connection in my work till recently as I have been estranged periodically from my family throughout my life and my grandmother was disconnected from her group by being one of the Stolen generation. My journey as an artist is complicated but I am strong and I have a voice. I have returned to my path. I am presently developing a website for my new business name and a collection of ceramic homewares based on my designs of Australian fauna and flora which will be released in early 2026.

Inspired by the fauna and flora of my homeland  Australia I create 3 dimensional  sculptural work that escapes the boundaries  of the canvas with passion and humour. Inspired by a hard road travelled I connect to the fragile spirit of creatures i paint.

The Pelican and Galah  are my totem or spirit animals. My grandmother was  a Bidjigal woman,  one of the Stolen generation  and I feel a responsibility and connection to our land and wildlife.

I use a dot style within my backgrounds  as homage to my aboriginal heritage.

I am inspired by Australian native flora and fauna. The backgrounds of my paintings are aerial views of country.I create layers of depth and pattern within my work and I am inspired to create depth and movement.
