In my practise I create otherworldly images of nature through paint and oil pastels. Drawing on my printmaking background, I focus on intricate patterns which surface through detailed lines by using a limited palette of colours . I also take inspiration from fluid lines and mark making of Korean art, which is defined by its quiet inner harmony.

Taking a magical realistic approach, ephemeral landscapes and seascapes are used to express longing for time’s lost memories. Creating connects me to love ones lost, who I feel close to at during the act of painting , which acts as a space for memories.

Working late into the evening I reflect on my day through images. Becoming engrossed in the act of creating is cathartic. I believe in the therapeutic potential of art for both maker and viewer.

I take an intuitive approach and the element of surprise makes creating art fulfilling. Feeling my way through a piece until I am  happy with its visual energy, the  titles act as  the final piece of the puzzle.

Taking part in Surreal Solihull, a vibrant outdoor exhibition that brings together newly commissioned works of 29 talented  artists from Solihull and the West Midlands.
