Announcing the Selected Artists for Childhood Nostalgia by Women in Arts Network

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” – Dr. Seuss

After months of heartfelt reflection and beautiful submissions from across the globe, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. This open call has been a beautiful reminder of how deeply personal and yet universally felt our childhood memories are. Through sculpture, painting, photography, mixed media, digital work, and more, artists responded with powerful reflections on the fleeting moments, emotions, and symbols that shaped their earliest years.

This open call was more than just a theme it was an invitation to revisit the past, reconnect with innocence, and turn memory into meaning. From joyful snapshots of play to quiet, melancholic recollections, the selected works form a moving collective archive of what it means to grow up. We are honoured to have witnessed the vulnerability and creativity that emerged through this call.

But before we reveal the names, let’s take a moment to reflect on what this exhibition truly represents and why it matters.

What is Childhood Nostalgia?

Childhood Nostalgia is a curated virtual exhibition spotlighting women-identifying and non-binary artists who reflect on the theme through their unique creative lens. Every artwork in this show becomes a portal into another life, another time, another emotion.

The open call was free to enter and open to all visual mediums. In addition to the exhibition, select artists also had the option to participate in an Artist Interview Series, where they share deeper insights into their inspiration, process, and practice.

The goal? To create an accessible, global platform where emerging and established voices can be heard, honored, and celebrated.

The Selection Process

With hundreds of applications from around the world, our curation team had the incredibly difficult task of narrowing down the entries. The final selection was based on artistic merit, emotional resonance, originality, and alignment with the theme. Each chosen artist brought something honest, brave, and beautifully nostalgic to the table.
