Just 3 Days Left: Submit Now For The Places We Call Home

Home is never just a house. For some of us, it’s the road we grew up on, the smell of food cooking in the kitchen, or the sound of a loved one’s voice calling us in. For others, home is a memory we carry, a person who makes us feel safe, or even a longing for something that feels just out of reach. We all have our own meaning of “home,” and it is always bigger than bricks and walls.

With this open call, we ask you to pause and reflect: what does home mean to you, and how does that meaning reveal itself in your art? This is the guiding question behind The Places We Call Home, an international exhibition that seeks to capture the infinite interpretations of this deeply human theme. And now, with only 3 days left before the submission window closes, time is running short to take part in this global conversation. The door will close soon, but in these final days, you still have the opportunity to add your perspective to an exhibition that promises to resonate far beyond individual stories.

Why This Theme Speaks to Everyone

“Home” is something that has always stayed with humanity across time, places, and generations. It is an idea we see again and again in painting, poetry, photography, and song. It connects the deeply personal with the shared human experience. A single chair in a painting can hold years of family memories. A photo of an old street corner can hold the story of migration and belonging. Even a piece of fabric can carry voices and traditions from the past.

Creating art about home is stepping into a very personal but powerful space. Home is the place we miss when we are far away, the comfort we turn to when life feels heavy, the memory that can heal us or sometimes hurt us. When artists explore this theme, they aren’t just showing houses, objects, or landscapes. They are turning feelings into something we can see grief into color, longing into texture, belonging into light. They take pieces of memory and shape them into something others can feel and connect with.

This exhibition brings all these different meanings together in one space. It is a gathering of voices and perspectives from around the world, all answering the same question: what does home mean to you? By adding your work, you are sharing your story and becoming part of a bigger reflection on belonging, memory, and the pieces of home we carry with us wherever we go.

About the Exhibition

Presented by the Women in Arts Network, The Places We Call Home is more than just a digital gallery. It is a carefully curated, international stage designed to bring together voices from across the world. Selected artists will see their works exhibited in a thoughtfully designed online space that is accessible to audiences everywhere. This means that your work will not remain confined to your studio walls or your local community. Instead, it will travel, reaching curators, collectors, and art enthusiasts who may never have otherwise encountered your vision.

The Power of She Virtual Exhibition

But the exhibition does not stop there. For artists who choose the Artist Interview Add-On, there is an additional opportunity to step beyond the canvas, the sculpture, or the screen. This feature allows you to share your inspirations, your process, and your personal journey in a published interview that will be shared with an audience of more than 100,000 followers. In this way, you are not only presenting your work but also your voice creating a chance for deeper connection and resonance with those who encounter your art. This is about visibility, yes, but also about amplifying your story and making space for it on an international stage.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to women-identifying and non-binary artists, age 18 and above, working in any medium. Whether you paint, photograph, sculpt, stitch, or design digitally, if your work explores what home means, there’s a place for you here.
