Chelsea Tikotsky is an abstract artist born in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her artistic journey began early, fueled by the encouragement of her parents. She pursued her passion for art, earning a B.A. in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting from California State University, San Francisco (SFSU). During her university years, Chelsea studied abroad in Florence, Italy, at the California State University of Florence and the Accademia di Belle Arti, where she immersed herself in European art and culture.
Chelsea primarily works in oil paints but also experiments with watercolors. Nature’s magical moments inspire her, and she channels this into her abstract pieces, which feature vibrant textures and fluid strokes. Her work reflects a dynamic interplay of colors, evoking a sense of movement and emotion. She also draws inspiration from nostalgic memories, aiming to infuse her art with positivity and evoke uplifting feelings.
Chelsea currently resides in Dublin, CA, with her white Labrador Retriever, Lizzie, and her calico cat, Emma. Her artwork is a blend of personal reflection, natural beauty, and an exploration of emotion through abstract expression.

My art is a direct extension of my emotions and my deep connection to nature, capturing the magic of life’s fleeting moments. I am inspired by the beauty we often overlook in our busy lives—like sunsets casting light on water, aspen trees swaying in the breeze, or the delicate intricacy of botanical and floral forms. These moments remind us that magic exists all around, and my paintings reflect that sense of hope, possibility, and wonder.
I’ve pursued art since childhood, encouraged by my parents, but it wasn’t until 2012-2013 that I fully committed to painting. A pivotal moment came during college when a professor claimed most of us would never pick up a brush again after graduating. That statement stayed with me, and after a year away from art, I realized I couldn’t let someone else define my path. I embraced painting as a way to express both my struggles and my optimism.
Through vibrant colors, layered textures, and serene landscapes, I create work that transports viewers to another time and place. My paintings often feature sunsets, bodies of water, and botanical or floral themes—symbols of hope, tranquility, and growth. Up close, the layers reveal hidden details, much like the discoveries we find in life’s challenges. Even in life’s stormiest moments, my art provides a sense of calm, encouraging us to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the magic and serenity that surround us.

My art is deeply inspired by the magical, fleeting moments in nature and life that we often overlook. So many of us get caught up in the hustle of our daily routines—checking our phones, managing work, and dealing with life’s endless to-do lists—that we miss the quiet, profound magic unfolding around us every day.
But magic is real. It happens in the tiniest, most ordinary moments: taking your dog for a walk, playing fetch, snuggling with your cat, or hearing your child’s laughter. It’s in the joy of watching your child open presents on Christmas morning or the connection of carefree laughter with a friend.
Nature, too, is brimming with these magical moments. It’s in the stillness of a sunrise, the soft patter of rain, the mist after a storm, or the rustling of leaves in the breeze. It’s the sound of birdsong at dawn, the hoot of an owl at night, the shimmering of a stream, or the quiet rhythm of waves.
These small moments, often unnoticed, are where I find my inspiration. They remind me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the present—whether it’s in the peace of a morning run, the release of a yoga session, or the wonder of simply listening to music.
Through my art, I hope to capture and share this sense of magic, offering a reminder of life’s fleeting beauty and the joy in cherishing it.
