I work with collage, drawing, printmaking, textile art, and painting to create works that explore the feminine universe and its manifestations in literature. I'm interested in the connection between written and visual language. I like to work in series, researching stories, poems, and short sentences to understand what was not said, what is behind the scenes, and who has those words.
My work is guided by interchangeable processes that allow me to use different media to realize an idea. The dynamic that I establish is formed by layers and connections of assertions and appropriations. In the exploration of other materials, I use images and rewrite new narratives. My recent artistic explorations delve into the rich tapestry of idioms and fairy tales.
I utilize a variety of found materials for the collages, including art magazines, books, and garments, creating a textured and layered effect. Oil and acrylic paint then build the figures within the collage compositions. Two elements play an essential role in my work: the line and the gesture especially in drawing and printmaking. I have been working with drypoint for many years, and the line is always present. Even in the painting, the line is there to give the structure that determines the space. Expressive gestures build strong lines that added movement and emotion to the composition.
In essence, my artistic journey is a testament to the power of storytelling through visual language, a celebration of the poetry that resides within the recesses of the mind and the profound impact it exerts on the realm of the corporeal.
