Isabella Al-Sharif is a professional visual artist specializing in large-scale portraits of empowered women in gold leaf and acrylic. Since 2016, she has created work that celebrates strength, resilience, and the divine feminine, combining figurative painting with layered materials to evoke reverence and dignity. Her exhibitions include solo shows such as Goddess Rising (621 Gallery, 2024) and Her Golden Renaissance (Tallahassee Airport Gallery, 2023), and she has been featured in Tallahassee Magazine, Tallahassee Democrat, and FSUView & Florida Flambeau. In addition to her studio practice, Al-Sharif curates exhibitions at LeMoyne Arts, fostering community connections and supporting fellow artists. Her work is deeply inspired by feminine archetypes, ancestral reflection, and the interplay of human and natural symbolism, aiming to inspire viewers to recognize their own strength, resilience, and limitless potential.
What does it mean to be an enlightened woman? My work invites viewers to reflect on this question and consider the roles women have played throughout their ancestry. Through large-scale portraits, I portray diverse feminine archetypes to evoke strength, resilience, and empowerment. Gold leaf is applied to illuminate the divine aspect of creation, elevating each subject and highlighting her inner power. Symbolic references to Mother Nature appear throughout my paintings, honoring her as the sacred bringer of life and a source of guidance and nurturing. By merging the human and natural, the tangible and the symbolic, my work seeks to celebrate and unify the divine feminine within all of us. Ultimately, my paintings are both a homage to the past and an affirmation for the future, encouraging viewers to recognize their own worth, dignity, and limitless potential.
